Sandstone – Marés was used in both the façade and the vertical load-bearing structure of the new Positive Energy Building developed by the public housing provider IBAVI. Employed as load-bearing walls, the locally sourced sandstone contributes to the building’s structural stability while reinforcing its architectural integration with the local context. Its thermal mass and breathability support indoor comfort and passive climate regulation, reducing overheating and energy demand, while the durability of the material ensures long-term performance with low maintenance requirements. This solution ensured high dimensional stability, mechanical strength, and reliable seismic performance, while enabling precise prefabrication and fast, efficient on-site assembly of both load-bearing and enclosing components.

Glued laminated timber (glulam) was used in combination with CLT panels to form part of the load-bearing structure of the ARV Positive Energy Building in Trento. The GL24h laminated timber elements, made from PEFC-certified wood and compliant with UNI EN 14080, were employed for primary and secondary columns and beams, creating the building’s vertical and horizontal structural framework.
Seismic forces are resisted through a timber K-bracing system, with particular attention given to the design and anchoring of structural connections to ensure stability and safety.

Cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels were used to construct the load-bearing structure of the ARV Positive Energy Building in the Trento demonstration site (former Zuffo parking area). Made from PEFC- and FSC-certified wood and compliant with ETA-12/0347, the CLT elements were applied in the prefabricated ribbed floors, roof structure, and staircase providing access to the first floor.
This solution ensured high dimensional stability, mechanical strength, and reliable seismic performance, while enabling precise prefabrication and fast, efficient on-site assembly of both load-bearing and enclosing components.
